Whats in a name I say...........

A hungry king in a forest lost his way
Benda Kalooru a dish of beans was all a poor woman could serve him that day
So was born Bangaluru, which then became Bangalore
Centuries later a mad rush to the so called roots
And we are trying once more to say Bangaluru dudes!
What’s in a name I say????

Hoping to restore our dignity
Victoria Terminus to Chatrapathi Shivaji Terminus was changed
The past cannot be wiped like a slate
It is the past that fashions our today
What then is the need to change the name?
What’s in a name I say?

The same old people walking the same old streets
The same old Queens necklace, the same crowded beach
The same old city that makes or breaks your dreams
The same old yummy vada pav filled with grease
It was Bombay then, it is Mumbai now
What’s in a name I say??

He was born Mohandas, son of Karamchand Gandhi
Great were his deeds that earned him his glory
Some called him Mahatma, others called him Bapuji
The man they referred to was, no man ordinary
He brought about change and that gave him many names
What’s in a name I say???

A name does not define who you are or what you will be
It does not change your fate or make you important be
It’s just a game for the people who play with names
Perhaps, their only claim to fame??
So stop it at once this name game
What’s in a name I say??
